My timing was off when I went to the Film Forum to see Public Speaking, the new documentary by Martin Scorsese about writer-lecturer-cultural critic Fran Liebowitz.

Unbeknownst to me, the screening before mine included Fran herself answering questions from the audience.

I would have loved to hear her speak in person—I’m a longtime super fan of her urbane and hilarious know-it-all wit.

Oh well, no regrets.  I thoroughly enjoyed the movie (It’s excellent!) and I did get to snap a photo of her, having a smoke, outside the theater.
