Guess who showed up at Rapture, the mammoth lesbian Pride party I hosted this past weekend…

Alex McCord and hubby Simon Van Kempen from The Housewives of New York!

I found them perfectly delightful—down-to-earth, jokey and very happy to be at the event.

After my introduction, they gave a rousing short speech for gay rights and led a toast celebrating New York’s new same-sex marriage law.

The brunette, the redhead and the blond.

With nautical go-go girls Stormy Leather, Bianca Dagga and Evelyn Vinyl.

Simon opted not to perform his new dance song, “I Am Real,” which was probably a good idea…  It’s kind of an acquired taste.

Joan Rivers and I together!  Well, sort of…

During the run of my upcoming play, The Emperor’s New Codpiece, Joan will be performing stand-up on the very same stage at the Laurie Beachman Theatre!

The Beechman is Joan’s regular NYC performance spot, and although I haven’t seen her there, I have caught her act elsewhere.

She is a scream—a consummate comedian!  I’ve also met her a few times and she’s always been so nice.  Drag queens seem to tickle her fancy.

I should ask her to borrow some of her dazzling jewelry for my role as queen of the castle!

Yay,  I’m in an upcoming variety show—”Glamour Ball!”

The format features a combo of burlesque stars and drag queens.

While I’m sure everyone would love to see me strip—ahem—I’m going to stick to comedy.

“May 20th kicks off the 1st Annual  Glamour Ball, an evening of lips, tits & lashes, hosted By Murray Hill & Bianca Del Rio and featuring the crème de la crème of New York City’s burlesque & drag queens packed into Le Poisson Rouge for one glittery showcase of the nations most talented divas!”

I’m gonna give away my age if I don’t stop posting all my old photos!  But a tribute to dearly departed Elizabeth Taylor is worth the risk.

I shot her paparazzi-style many years ago at the Hilton Hotel as she a slew of other celebrities strode into a party after filming a television special at nearby Radio City.

My star-gazing friend Helen and I arrived early to the hotel, and in a bold impromptu move we hid out in an empty conference room next to where the party guests would be checking their coats!  Sneaky, sneaky!

Once they began pouring in, we emerged and found ourselves in a celebrity fantasy land.  Look at some of the famous ladies I snapped!

Liza Minnelli and former husband Mark Gero.
Linda Evans of "Dynasty."
Lena Horne
Penny Marshall of "Laverne & Shirley"
Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco

I also snapped pix of tons of male stars, including Paul Newman, Robin Williams, Christopher Reeves and Sean Connery.

But my greatest photo of all was of Liz.

So glamorous!

Gone but never forgotten!  R.I.P. Elizabeth Taylor.

My musical loving mom is in town.  So last night we went to the Broadway production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert (in previews before opening on March 20th), based on the 1994 Australian film.

Girlfriend, talk about a super faggy show!  Every scene, every musical number, every costume, every wig is bombastically garish and over-the-top, which I must say is very much in the spirit of drag from Down Under.

So if that sort of entertainment (including not one, but two confetti drops) tickles your fancy, break open the piggy bank and head for the Palace Theater.  Damn, Broadway is expensive…!

Not so long ago John Roberts was just another aspiring downtown comedic performer, making ends meet through various odd jobs.

Now he’s touring with Margaret Cho and starring at big-time comedy clubs!  His latest gig is providing the voice for Linda(!) Belcher, the faithful wife on FOX’s funny new animated show, Bob’s Burgers.

Roberts also uses a similar voice in his hysterical series of videos inspired by his mom!

Is John Roberts the new Marge Simpson?
